Bag filters (Baghouses) are fabric collectors that use filtration to separate dust particulates from dusty gases. It is one of the most efficient and cost effective types of dust collectors available and can achieve a collection efficiency of more than 99% for very fine particulates. The dust-laden gases enter the baghouse and pass through fabric bags that act as filters. Bag filter is typically used in applications requiring gross particulate removal. Materials used for the manufacture of filter bags are polypropylene or polyester felt materials.
Based on the cleaning method adopted , bag houses can be classified into the following categories:
- Mechanical shaker bagfilter,
- Reverse air bagfilter,
- Reverse jet bagfilter.
