Coal Grinding and Storage Systems must be protected against explosions and/or their consequences. Protection can be provided by integrated safety techniques Cage Vent. A dust explosion is nothing but a steep pressure rise due to air expansion as the consequence of heat. Burning of inflammable dust causes the heat.
Due to the continuously increasing Velocity of Pressure shock and flame waves which occur when an explosion propagates through a system, the explosion can eventually develop into a detonation. In such a case when the pressure increases the vent cover lets out the gas and thus the excess pressure. In order to prevent a venting system from opening under the normal pressure fluctuation during the process they must be preset for a determined response pressure.
